| Senior Forumer ![]() | Ok bear with me, made after comming back from a few beers (please point any obvious errors) As i have been asked a 4-5 times in past few weeks by PM how to do the flashy text animation that i user far too often. I figured i may as well finally produce a tutorial for it . Final image ![]() 1. Create your image... 2. Type out the text you would like on the image ![]() 3. Duplicate the layer (right click layer and duplicate or ctrl+j) you would like to animate, then hide the layer ( click the eyeball) ![]() 4. Then apply the blending options etc to the visible text ![]() 5. Once you are happy with your image, Make the duplicated text image visable again (click the eyeball). 6. Select the Magic wand tool and highlight all around the text ![]() 7. Hide the duplicated text layer again 8. With the layer below selected. Go to Edit then Copy merged then Edit then Paste ![]() 9. Create a small rectangle that is about double the height of your text layer, right click on the rectangle layer and slect Rasterize Layer ![]() 10. Select the Magic wand tool again, highlight the outside of the rectangle, rightclick within the highlighted area and slect Feather, then at the next window input the feather raduis (how blurred you want the edges to be) you wish to use. The radius depends on the size of your text/rectangle. ![]() 11. Then press delete a couple of times until you have something like... ![]() 12. The make sure the yellow reactangle layer (Glow in my example), is below your merged layer. Then change the layer to Overlay ![]() 13. Move the rectangle layer (glow in my example) all of the way to the left of the text, until you can JUST no longer see it. ![]() 14. Go to the animation window (Window > tick animation), and duplicate the frame ![]() 15. Then move the rectangle layer all of the way to the right until it is JUST out of view ![]() 16. In the animation window click the Tween button ![]() 17. Type in the amount of frame you would like to spread this action across. This all depends on : 1. The file size of the end image (the more frames the bigger the file size) 2. The smoothness of the animation flow ( the more frames the smother the flow) 3. the distance the layer has to move in the animation (the further it needs to move, the more frames you need) ![]() 18. You can then press play and the animation should run through. I prefer to select the very first or last frame and add a 2 second delay, so that the animation isn't too continuous. ![]() 19. Go to file > Save for Web and Devices... > save ![]() (Sorry WC, will look into the other tutorial when i get time ) |

| Active Forumer ![]() | Have you tried placing a white animation over a light pattern overlay using your technic? would be good to know that it deffinatly works. I could still do it just would of had to use a dark yellow or infact any colour apart from a white when haveing a pattern overlay on the text. I just prefer the shine you get using the gradient tool - i could of just swerved the pattern overlay on the text but i just fancied doing something different.
