50.forumer.com [RESOLVED] I am unable to modify my site logo

I have a phpBB3 account (http://hogwartsamerica.50.forumer.com)

I have attempted both uploading and linking to a URL for a different site logo, but it will not accept my changes. I can only use the existing images in the skin set or none at all.

When attempting to upload, I get an error that the file is either the wrong extension, too large or an invalid file type. I know that none of these apply.

When I attempt to link a URL, it shows the chosen image under "CHOSEN IMAGE:" but "SELECTED IMAGE" shows a blank.

EXISTING CUSTOM IMAGE can only be set to NO - I'm assuming this is because I cannot upload images.

Here is a screenshot: FYI - the image is a spoof that I made some time ago - the label says "I Can't Believe It's Not BUTTERBEER. Harry Potter fans will get the joke.

I have also attempted to edit the style sheet, but the site logo is not defined there. I viewed the page source of my index page, and the site logo image is declared THERE, in the body of the document in a DIV tag with the id "header". it is very frustrating that I now know WHERE the change needs to occur, but do not know how to effect that change.

Oi! Sometimes, such obvious details elude me completely. I'm using the DarkFantasy image set.

Well not all skins display the custom logo that's why I wanted to know what skin you are using

but this skin should work, I just tried it on my test board and it does show my custom image

Can you post the image you're trying to display? (give me the direct link to the image uploaded on an image host)

I have tried uploading all of them and linking through URL. Is there a setting somewhere else that may prevent me from doing this correctly?

These images are currently hosted on web space I received free from a previous ISP. Does the location of the images matter? Will these images work if I put them on Photobucket or similar image hosting server?

ok well what you do is change your skin or something and also when your uploading it has to be in the dimensions that they have givin you

No it doesn't matter which host it is on, I uploaded it on filehive and it still doesn't show...

I also tried to upload the image from my computer even re-saved it in photoshop as a different file it still didn't upload, I have no idea why, I could upload about 3 other images but not that bottle

ok I had one more try...... I reduced it and saved it with a completely different name and it liked it...

It's 4:24 am now and I should really be going to bed, let me know how it goes...
I'll try to work out tomorrow what's the deal with the linked in images....... it might just be the skin, but it also might be a bug why they don't show...

It did work!

I just don't get why it was rejecting the other files. Even after reducing them to below 50K in size, it just won't accept them from my hard drive or my home site. It did like the one you hosted on an image server. Perhaps that is the trick? To place the image on a known and trusted server? If so, a list of accepted hosting sites would be extremely useful!

I will submit the files to Photobucket and post the results of that here. I don't actually intend to use any of these images, I'm just experimenting to learn how everything works while I set the forum up.

well I also re-named it, it did not seem to like the looooooong file name
Try saving the one I hosted on filehive on your computer and upload it on the forum, it did let me upload it...

Glad it worked for you though...

Most commonly used hosts are photobucket, imageshack and Forumer's own Filehive....

Simply placing them on Photobucket didn't work. I'll rename it now...

I do not know what has changed, but I can now upload files as well as link off site.

Whatever it was that changed (I haven't touched any related settings during the interim), this issue is now resolved. Thank you for your help.
