Unfortunately, I was unable to get any of the specific information from this ad, but yet another one of them forced a trojan onto my PC. Specifically the JS/FakeXPA trojan. Luckily my security software intercepted and cleaned it for me.

I do remember something about friend invites or friend messages in the ad before getting redirected to one of those "your computer is infected download our software to install more viruses" sites that won't let you leave the page or close the browser (not easily anyway).

I've also noticed that IE seems to be far more susceptible to these attacks that FireFox is. I don't normally use IE, so I'm not too familiar with it. But nearly all of the problems I've encountered have been while I was viewing my forum through it.

Without even changing pages, I just got attacked 3 more times in the exact same fashion. I can no longer access anything hosted by Forumer in IE. That really bites.

I've got FF with the NoScript add on so its only when I switch to another browser that I can have trouble. However we disabled ads on my forum for logged in users. NoScript is great because it prevents ads. It does however disable any java script functionality of all the sites that you haven't white listed. Because of that I have no problems in FF which is primarily how I access it. I did come across another ad that tried to download something (but not as much as that game one) and a dating ad sounds right. I linked the ad directly in a previous post and now it is gone so perhaps that ad got removed which is good. Just either have them check your site & switch to google, or disable ads. You can buy credits or transfer what you have to your forum through here. Just select the amount that you want to send, enter the name of your forum & hit transfer. Your must get the name correct or you'll lose the credits so I would copy/paste the name. From the ACP click on fsettings [you must be a founder to access this panel], premium upgrades & then ad removal. You might want to check "Exclude Guests from Ad Removal". Every hit will deplete your account by a credit & when your forum runs out the ads will return. I find some of the ads quite annoying because they are distracting and cause your cursor to go nuts.
