Ok, well sicne we cannot upload new skins thought i would try what i did with my IPB and use CSS script. I decided to modfiy the CSS script that is sued by subSilver, because i liked the layout and it was very simple to edit.

Now heres my problem, since we can't upload i have had to remotley host my script on my webhost - but, when i create a new style, using the subsilver template, and fill in all the boxes i have problems when it come sto the box labeled:

CSS Stylesheet:
Filename for CSS stylesheet to use for this theme.

i type in the address to my script (ie the full "http://" address of my hosted script") and then hit submit.

But when i view my forum, the changes which should of been made to the style according to the CSS script do not take effect. Is it because it is remotley hosted, because when i view the source of the page i noticed this:

<!-- link rel="stylesheet" href="../templates/subSilver/http://www.myhost.com/myaccount/myscript.css" type="text/css" -->
<style type="text/css">

is there anyway of removing the part in bold, or better still, uploading my script to this directory?

Have you tried using the, "create" button rather than editing subSILVER?

I'm not sure if this will work, but it's worth a try...

I'm not sure because it may have to be relative to the root path, but again, I'm not sure.

Can you maby post the actual link to your CSS? And if not, maby PM me it?

i did create my own. i clicked style managment, clicked "create" and made my own style called ukc. but you have to select a template to base it on, in my case i chose subSilver.

the path to my css style is: http://www.freewebs.com/matt_d_rat/UKC.css

Hmmm, seems as though it's not working... lol. So, I'm taking a wild guess that you can't use it.

But u havn't answered my question, the reason its not working is because its not linking to the css script - it keeps putting, "../templates/subSilver/" infront of it.

So unless there is a way to remove this, ir even better upload my css script to that directory: ../templates/subSilver/ then it isn't going to work.

My question is: is it possible to remove ../templates/subSilver/ before my link, or is it possible to upload my css script to that directory.

Exactly. That's what he's asking. Unfortunately, I do not think your custom skin is going to work man. Sorry. Because, you would need to upload it into the templates directory which isn't possible.

Dude, we have installed 30+ skins from you to choose from... if you can't pick one that you like, that's your own fault. Sorry.

thats not the point, yeah theres plenty to choose from - but the reason i joined forumer was because you were given complete control and could make your own forum unique - 30 skins or not, your forum will still look like someone elses...

Not promissed. However, once the stable release of the new phpBB is launched, we WILL be upgrading. Wether or not this will have more skin options, I am not sure.
