Default Favicon "Warning"

Hello -

I got a favicon working and was pretty happy about it until a member got an email because they are following a topic. At the top of their email was a big red warning advising them of potentially unsafe links and it displayed the code and host location of my favicon.

Do you know why this happened and is there a way to eliminate it? I'd hate to have to take the favicon down, but people freak out about that kind of stuff and I don't want to scare members away.

Thanks,
Kittie

I doubt it's the favicon that has anything bad in it, it's probably that other users of "fileave.com" have uploaded "bad" things, so it recognises the whole site as bad.

Nothing to worry about I'd say.

Just upload the favicon image in the form of a .png, .gif or .jpg as a smilie, then right-click the image and get the direct link and add that to your code.......... it will show, I tried it on my test board.

I have had the same problem this morning, and it caused lots of problems for one of the members on my team....

I had mine hosted with Ripway ( i can't even get onto their site this morning).. I tried to delete it on the HTML sheets and got lots more problems. I've now gone right back to basic skin and just changed logo etc. I can't believe how much quicker the site is loading as well....

What I can't figure out is why the favicon is showing up ...

your forum is IPB, this is not the correct section for you to post in.

How did you get more problems by deleting it from the HTML?

The image is probably shown on your computer still because you have not cleared your cache.

btw, that tip with uploading it to the smilies and then adding the image url to the favicon code works for IPB also.

So sorry about posting in the wrong place ....

I didn't mean they caused me more problems, I caused them myself.I had added some mods that never ever worked, but they were hosted there as well, and i think must have been something on the same HTML page, so when I deleted the Favicon, I had other things that looked odd as well....

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that one....

many Thanks
