You have an IPB forum. To stop guests from posting, you will have to edit the permission masks for each forum. You will need to uncheck the appropriate boxes so that guest's can't reply.

Default Guest have problems posting

My forum is http://bw2.9.forumer.com

We have configured to allow guest posting.
All forums were working fine (including guest posting) for last 9+ mths.

After the recent upgrade in Server 9, people fed back that guest posting is not available anymore ? I have not done any configuration changes.

Co-incidental or really a bug or change in policy ?

I don't think it is a change in policy. It might be a bug.

For the 2.forumer.com forums go to fSetings menu and click "permissions, guests post/reply"

3.forumer.com has this menu disabled at this point but it should be back soon.

To fix the problem on .3.forumer.com edit your user group (manage user groups menu). The "guest" group, give it a permission to reply/start topics.

Got it.

Did not realise Forumer put in a new "allow guest posting" setting under the new "fsetting" menu. It used to work by the other permission settings as described above.

Thanks !

Coz Forums are all about having people HAPPY when they close your forum's window. It is not about having them frown coz your forum returned an error saying guests can post.

Hi, I started a forum (thread) and checked my permission mask it says Guest allowed to read, reply, start and upload. But i tried it and ppl also have told me they can't. how come? Its suppose to be an application to my guild for a game, so technically they can't be a member when they apply because they need to be validated. So its stuck in a.. you have to be a member to apply but u cant post unless ur a member ? I am sure the permisison mask says Guest and all are checked. anyone kno?

and its suppose to be .30.forumer.com but its not there

You aren't allowed to have guests posting on your forum. It is something that Limez has done to make sure of this. It is so that you don't have spambots coming on and annoying the pants off you and your members.

Default Guest postings disapeared

in my Forum about a couple of hours ago all posts by guests have gone,
also threads iniated by guests,
I don't have a figure for the missing amount of posts, but guess that it might be 100-200,
and the post-counter is still at it's initial total number.

Can someone explain that phaenomena ?
