We had a new member join our board (which is private to only members) and on the bottom of the screen where it lists the registered logged on users her name was italicized. Why would this be?

In the person's profile, they checked off the box to be "hidden" from public view when logged in. Admins will see the person's name italicized, but other regular members and guests will not.

it is that they indicated they wanted to be "hidden" from view as being online, but as a moderator or admin, you can see that they are online. But regular members would not see them, they would just show as "hidden".

If you are not happy with a member being hidden, you can change it back to the member being seen in their profile. Unfortunately this setting can't be disabled.
