I'm using phpBB and I want to upload images for ranks, but the images must remain on phpBB's root or folders.

So can I upload images to the forum?

P.S. My forum's URL is http://a1forever.11.forumer.com/, and because I'm Vietnamese, so sorry for my bad English

you cannot change the ranks via the folder is your forum is free, but there is another way. *sneaky smile*

If your forum is free, go to the admin panel then go to the 'RANKS' option right near the bottom. Select the rank you wish to change the picture for.

A small panel will appear, in which one of the options is 'RANK IMAGE'.

Go onto a picture hoster (like imageshack, or filehive), upload the picture you want for that rank, and paste the link into the 'RANK IMAGE' box.

It won't come up on the rank panel, but it will on the forum. It is a long process, but it does work! Hope this helped!

But why don't you check out another way (this is much longer...)
1. Go to the Admin Panel and click the "Smilies" link in the left pane.
2. Click "Add a new smiley".
3. Add a smiley with your rank image.
4. Now the smiley has been added and the image will stays in "/images/smiles/<Your Image.jpg (.gif, .png,...)" (Relative to phpBB's root path). You can then delete the smiley and add your rank image!

But this is much longer so I prefer yours.

The link would be where the photo is hosted. I use photobucket to host my pics. Their hosting gives you 3 links for each picture-all having different applications on forums & posts. www.photobucket.com/

I use this one on my board. That's so far the best solution and I would recommend it to all users! This is truely 'relative to phpBB's root path' and thus the images will show up also in the control panel. Just few notes:

don't use / at the start because it will be doubled (although it works anyway)
add subfolder name which is your board name:

"images/smilies/{yourboardname}/{rankimage.}{gif|jpg|png}"

I must be doing something wrong do you need to use the brackets? {yourboardname} I added the smiley or do you need to use the whole path http:yourboardname.19.former.com/rankimg.gif

no brackets needed if I understand it correctly, it would just be

images/smilies/cmmprogrammer/rankimg.gif (or whatever your rank image is)

I think, I don't use this method

That's correct. The brackets {} were just to show which parts need customisation.

Don't know about a space, but you can put it underneath. Put <br> at the end of the rank code. That gives you a line break.
