Default Avatar Problems

When I go to upload my new avatar, It keeps saying that it is over 6kb. When I change it to 8kb on my configurations, it says "Your new configurations have been accepted" or whatever that tells you its ok. Then I check it again, and it's back to 6kb!

How do I change it from 6kb to 8kb?

BTW: the avatar I want is the avatar on these forums. It is 7.88kb, and 8kb on the computer.

I seem to have lost my marbles...
Can I have yours?

Are you clicking "submit" or w/e at the bottom to save the changes?

Bad news first: you cannot change the max. size of the avatar (see >>here #17 in Jacko's post - one would presume you've already read this ).

Good news is that you can still upload your avatar. Just use a bit of compression or remove some superfluous EXIF information from your .jpg image. See images in the attachment below saved using IrfanView (freeware): 3.6kB even without any compression (awsome100.jpg), and 1.6kB with some compression (awsome75.jpg). Actually you won't notice any difference between them (and the original).
