help with obnoxious user in my board

Lately there's been this obnoxious user in my forum, making accounts just for the heck of it, because he/she never posts in the forum. All this person does is make the account but never uses it. The problem though is the fact that this person is posting inappropriate content. What I mean is he/she makes the accounts and in his/her public profile info in the section were you post your "url" this person keeps putting porn sites. And I find that offensive, vulgar and disrespectful to the members of the board. So I've been deleting every account this person has been making with porn sites in his/her profile. But this isn't stopping the person from making a new account with a porn site in it.

The main problem is I can't ban this person because I don't have an ip, since this person never posts in the board with the "accounts" he/she makes. And I just can't ban any guest who is viewing the board, because I'm not sure that's the culprit.

Is there a way to disable in the profile info "the adding of urls" temporarly? Just until this person buzzes off. I'm hoping that if it's possible to disable the adding of urls, then this person will finally stop what he/she believes is a funny "prank".

Is this something common though, users making accounts with porn sites in their profiles? I don't think it is, and I know its not allowed. I've always made that clear to the members of my board, that any offensive sites or content is not allowed in the boards. The other administrator in the board and I pride ourselves in the fact, that our board is always clean.

Our board is dedicated to a hollywood actor, something that could not attract any porn sites. That's why I believe its somebody pulling a prank.

In the meantime I'll keep deleting this persons accounts, in hopes he/she will stop making those users names with vulgar sites in his/her profile.

I'll appreciate any help or advice I can get.

Wow, I'd say IP ban them, but I see why in your case you can't do that. You can try just regular banning that person's accounts, but that would just encourage that person to make even more accounts. I just hope that person making all the bad accounts leaves your forum for good.

Then again, you can do what Majicman said:

"Here is what you do... set the Validation to "Admin". And then, you have complete control over which acounts are active, or not active."

I certainly hope this person stops his/her "prank". Thanks for responding and your advice as well. I read in another topic, that this has been happening in other boards as well. I was wondering, does anyone have an ip of the person posting the porn sites? I've been able to get 2 ips from the admin panel, where you can see who's viewing your board, and it posts the ips of the members and guests online. I'm not sure if this is the actual culprit, but this person has been coming in very often to view and apparently read around the forum. Do you want me to post the ips for comparison? I haven't banned this person, because I'm sure its the culprit.

set it so that you have to verify all accounts. that way you can control who does and who doesn't sign up

Is there something you can add under the General Admin - Word Censors that would disable the URL from being shown properly? I'm new to this, but that's the first thing that came to my mind.

@MrsM no unofrtenuatley it might block out the word porno if it was in there but there are so many sites with different urls(just guessing).

Unfortunately, the word censor does not affect the profiles.
