My users are currently receiving the following message when they post:

Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 535 authorization failed (#5.7.0)

DEBUG MODE

Line : 132
File : smtp.php

We've tracked this down to only happening in one board. This board is the most heavily used (one with most posts in it).

Forum is bgsleavers.20.forumer.com.

I think it can happen in any board when members request notifications of new posts (replies). Besides probably no new users can register as well.

Check you e-mail options and disable the "Use SMTP for e-mail" option (the notifications will be send anyway). If you still want to use SMTP, you need to provide correct details for smtp server, username and password. Note that phpBB does not support encrypted authentication, for exampke you cannot use GMail accounts.

ah, now you come to mention that, it all makes sense now- i set the board to use an smtp mail account the other day- it didnt occur to me that the board uses said account like that!!
