I need to change the default colours used when creating a ranged event in the calendar, but I cant find the code.

I know that I want to change
<option value='darkblue' selected="selected">darkblue</option>

&
<option value='white' selected="selected">white</option>

but where are they??

It can be that dificult, someome must know where to make the change?

All you need to do is go into stylesheet. Find Row3 and edit is as you would like it.
