Hi, Can someone help me here!!
I'm just starting to get members at my board, but there seems to be a problem (either with my boards set-up or at forumer's end, I'm not sure) with email validation.

I did a test registration to see how the process went as I noticed all the new members were still showing as validating. You register, and the validation email comes straight away, and you click on the link in the email and this extended profile thingy comes up (which is a bit confusing for a start - you should get a message saying you are now registered and get thrown back to the main forum page).

Anyway, when you do the extended profile bit, and you go back to the site and log in, it shows you as logged in, but you can't post (as I have it set up that only members can post, not people awaiting validation. Next to the Logged in as: athena bit there is this: ( Log Out · Resend Validation Email ). So with my test account, I clicked on the resend validation, but I still haven't received a second email (20 minutes later)...

So what is the problem? Is there a time lapse for the validation to occur, or is there something wrong with my forum set-up, or is it a bug???

I believe he meant "Admin Validation". Which means that you...the admin would have to manually validate everyone's account before they could become a member and post.

There have been errors in the past with the verification email being sent in the past. You may be having the same problems. [/b][/quote]
Well that's what I'm having to do now anyway, even though it is set to email validation.

I take it then, that this is a bug in the system? Does it not work on anyone's board or is this something that strikes at random

I find it a little annoying to have to admit everyone manually though. I would set the validation to none, but I figured it would be better to have some sort of safeguard. But is email verification really much of a safegurad. Don't you have the ip address when people post, and isn't that pretty much the same sort of security. What extra security is having the email verification anyway...

what is meant here is Automated Signing up. A sort of Nickname parking. It can be a problem when there are thousands of member ID already registered but zero posts by them.
