How can I do this, and where is the image directory located?

You can't add anything to the image directory, if you want different images, you need to upload them to an image host and link them in to the forum.

How can I go about linking them in the forum? I'm making a skin/layout and it needs its own.

Here is a link to a tutorial where I'm stuck (on Step 6)

I uploaded a Template and Style Sheet, but not a Image Directory..

well as that tutorial is in fMods, I suggest you ask for help there, we do not support mods on this forum.... sorry.
