The previous admin "Tom" sent me an e-mail stating that the forum was mine to run and he deleted his own user account. This is fine and we talked about it ahead of time. The problem was that he just left me as a "moderator" rather than "admin". How can my profile be changed to that I am listed as the "admin" now?

I am also unsure if it is phpBB2 or phpBB3. Any way to tell?

onto your question,

Ask him if he still has the original email which he received when he set up the forum (from ipbadmin@forumer.com)

If yes then he can forward it to you and you can set up your FAP account and make yourself admin.

I saw the IPB, but I read in one of the threads somewhere, it would have said "powered by IPB". I didn't see the "powered by" an thought otherwise.
I have email him and asked if he still had the original email with the code in it.

I spoke with the former admin. He thought he made me an admin before he deleted himself, but apparently he didn't. He doesn't have the original e-mail with the "secret code". He did say that his e-mail address is the same and he would do whatever he could to help resolve this.

So, with all that said, what are my next steps to resolve this?

He will need to contact me. (ask him to log in this forum and click on my user name and email link to send me an email.)

ok, I received some email from fMods...

He needs to log in to THIS forum NOT fMods (using the same user name and pass he had when he created that forum) and send me an email from that account.

no offense but you were the one who messed up, so the least I would expect from you to be polite (and complaining and typing in all caps - screaming at us is not what I would call polite!!),
You need to actually prove to me that you are the owner,

Anyone can come here and pretend that the forum is theirs,
If I am to go to the admin and ask him to manually make some one else admin on your forum because you could not be bothered to do it before deleting your account or saving the original email with the admin code (even though it is stated in there that it should be saved) at least act politely and do what I ask you to do without complaining!!

Did Tom find the original email to prove him the owner of the forum? If yes, would you please contact Wild Cat and pass it to her? It's the only way to help.

I have been in touch with Tom and he verified, he doesn't have the original email. Yes, my user name here is the same as on the forum.

Okay, I hate to be a pest by continually asking, but can this be done or not. The previous admin (Tom (TJ) Martin has already said he doesn't have the original email with the admin code. He has deleted himself as a member and I (ratherbefishin) am left as the moderator.

I would hate to be forced to start a new forum just so we can have an admin for it.
