Default Links in Reg Email messed up since Domain name Change

I have changed my forum's domain name to http://forumpromotion.org a while ago.

Recently, I registered a test account on my forum, and here is the email that I received:

Quote:
Dear USERNAMEREMOVED,
This email has been sent from http://forumpromotion.org/index.php.

You have received this email because this email address
was used during registration for our forums.

Thank you for registering.
We require that you "validate" your registration to ensure that
the email address you entered was correct. This protects against
unwanted spam and malicious abuse.

To activate your account, simply click on the following link:

/index.php?act=Reg&CODE=03&uid=31&aid=NUMBERSREMOVED

(AOL Email users may need to cut and paste the link into your web
browser).

Not working?
------------------------------------------------

If you could not validate your registration by clicking on the link, please
visit this page:

/index.php?act=Reg&CODE=05

It will ask you for a user id number, and your validation key. These are shown
below:

User ID: REMOVED

Validation Key: REMOVED

Please cut and paste, or type those numbers into the corresponding fields in the form.

If you still cannot validate your account, it's possible that the account has been removed.
If this is the case, please contact an administrator to rectify the problem.

Thank you for registering and enjoy your stay!

Regards,

If you look at the links, you will notice that they all start with /index.php and so on. They are not complete links.

I am worried about this because new registrants may have a hard time validating if they are not sure what to put before the /index.php, considering they know something should be before the /index.php.

This is a problem that I hope somebody can sort out or fix on Forumer, as I do not think I can change this because this is in the core php files.

This is very important to me, as there are always a few validating members on my forum, and they are never validated. I just believe this is hindering my forum from getting more members than it can.

Change the activation verifiction to admin verification until you get it fixed.

Fmods seems to have the same problem,I recently recovered my password, and I had to copy a link and paste it at the end of .com/----------- .
did you do any mager modifications to your forum??? Sometimes the modifications are the problems.

It has nothing to do with the modifications, it has to do with the domain change. It worked fine when it was http://forumpromo.18.forumer.com, but as soon as we bought the domain, the problem started.

I will make it no activation for now.

Are you using CNAME Records or A Records with the Domain

I use A records, and I will not turn off my domain, I bought it for a reason.

Currently, my old domain has bad cookies, and is outdated.

OK..If you are using A Records, then it has to be a problem with the Forumer SOftware or something of the sort..

Leon i was not aware you bought the domain lol.

but yes we need this fixed as most of our members will most likely not know how to login and activate the account.

some members might be able to guess the link but most will not bother trying.

This is a well documented bug that has been around since fDomains was introduced and has been deemed unfixable. There's nothing that can be done about it, you'll just have to find some way to notify new members of the bug if you're worried about it.

Please do not PM me for support.
