I am a member in a forum and we have a serious problem. the forum admin claims that she can check our pms , she can read them cause she is a root admin. i really dont know if this is possible. could you help me please?

There is a modification at Fmods that allows admins to read PMs, but that is not limited to only root administrators.

For the modification you need 50 posts on fmods.com of which 15 posts must be of good quality, giving opinion, help etc.

Then you need to PM Timeless saying that I have made 50 posts and he will check the posts himself.

Once you do get the Platinum status that is when you have access to the modification along with other ones.

Spamming the forum won't help, many users have done this and have their efforts been cut down to minus 50 posts.

How do you understand if the forum in which you are a member is an IPB one or a phpBB?

You can scroll to the bottom of the forum and look in the Forumer copyright. It will usually say "Powered by IPB" for IPB boards, and "Powered by phpBB" for phpBB boards.
