is there anyway to have people redircted to my ip page when they just type in my reg. site url?

Well, I don't think that they can, I guess they will have to write the full address with the "=act" thing.
By da way, you can just get a short address.

Whenever you do a banner or text link, just hyperlink (mask) the URL so it goes to the portal page.

Well you can not redirect all members to the portal just once from the Forums, as this would be done through the CSS. If you were to apply a re-direct in the CSS, every time you go to the forums or any page within the forums you will be re-directed. Sorry.

It IS possible, I have seen it done and would like to do it to my site as well. I am currently trying to figure it out and get in touch with the person that did it.

this is possible if you have access to the actial PHP files of your forums or basically if you have FTP access to your forums.
Permanent Redirection to the Portal page requires a little modding in the php files. Here at Forumer.com we dont have this option. so the only way to have a redirection here is to use a short address.
