| Member | My forum has suddenly had all attached images removed and replaced with what appears to be a button with the label "Attached Image". The "button", though, does not click; please note that I'm saying that it's not really a button - it just looks like one. I've attached a screen cap of the "button". When I tested a new post, the attached image appears as usual in the post box. Is there some action happening behind the scenes that removes images from forums? Is there any way to recover these images? |

| Member | Thank you for that idea. Unfortunately, there seems to be no problem there. However, the "button" now contains a link. However, it does not work. Instead I get a page that says: The error returned was: Sorry, some required files are missing, if you intended to view a topic, it's possible that it's been moved or deleted. Please go back and try again. Well, now I'm at once pleased and dejected - pleased because the change seems to indicate that somebody on the provider's side is making code changes. Dejected because of the "some required files are missing". I hope not! Perhaps in the next day or so this will work? |

| Elite Forumer ![]() | Do you have the files backed up? If yes then when the HTML templates become available again you can just upload them again and they should work ...... hopefully Good luck ![]() |

| Member | Why would a restore of the images be necessary? Surely Forumer has back-ups of the database? If there were a crash or somebody cracked the system, a database recovery would be performed, right? Or is Forumer not storing these uploads in the database? And therefore not backing up attachments? |

![]() Because we can only apply backups to the whole of a server other forums would loose data if we did this for just one forum. The backups are only used in case a whole server database is compromised.

| Member | I see. Never experienced that problem myself. I run Firefox ordinarily, and IE6 when I must - I won't "upgrade" past these constraints. This is a forum host, not a commerce site. If the server is using code that isn't supported by the standard browsers, they should be changing the code - we shouldn't have to change our browser. Last edited by maffu; 09-04-2007 at 05:31 AM. |

And where does that leave your users? We did nothing to precipitate the loss of our images, yet you have no alternative backup system we can use (that I have been able to find). In fact, I've seen a post where you state there IS no method for the user to backup. How can we backup and restore our data if we can't count on your backups?
