Thumbs up

Hello,

I recently found forumer.com I really like it. I set up a board, but I'm still missing some things.

I would like to set up a forum, where I want to post announcements. For this forum, I would like the following behaviour:
- I (administrator) alone should be allowed to post anything. All others should only have read-only access.
- Every time I post something all members should receive an email with the message I posted (and a link to it on forumer.com).
- All members should receive this email, evne if they did not enable to receive 'administrator updates'.
- The mail should be in HTML-format and have a custom header and footer (containing a little bit of HTML-code and a JPEG).

Can anybody tell me whether this is possible and how. I'm rather new to forumer and the entire configuration of a board.

Thanks very much,
Sven.

<s>E-Mail functions don't work on Forumer as of right now.</s>
I'm an idiot >.<
For this Admin post only forum, you need to adjust the permission masks. It's pretty straightforward, just look for the table on the bottom when you create a new forum. Just check Admin Group Mask's entire row/column (can't remember) and Upload if you want it, and don't check anything else (make sure you check Read for all masks)

Welcome to Forumer!

[b]The first bit: Forum Permissions

To disable members from replying but rather just reading, go to:

Admin CP > Manage Forums > Permissions

Here, check just 'Read' under the Members group. Check everything under the Admin group. Now members will be able to read everything you post in this forum, but not reply to it.

The second: Member email Notifications

You can not force all members to recieve your emails. Let us know if there is anything else you wish to do around this.

I thought E-Mail functions didn't work right now. Right?

No. Since a couple of days ago, email functions are working. The Admin team has fixed it.

to Sven: you cant set email notifications like that. One way for members to get email notifications is to ask them to subscribe to that particular forum. then everytime you post a message the members will get a notification. Also you cannot edit the template for that email.
The notification includes who posted, when and the entire message content.
The other way is for you to send bulk mails to your members via the Admin CP. That is not an automated process. you have to type out the message and send it.
Setting the permissions so that only Admin can post messages is easy and its already explained up above by others.
