Default Only certain members can see the forum?
Is it possible that only certain members (for example those who have over 50 posts) can see one forum but newbie members can't?

Yes that is possible.

First you will need to create a user group (eg members) and setup the permission setting for that group (http://forum.forumer.com/showthread.php?t=5707)

Then create a user group called newbie, which is set to promote to members when you have 50 posts (the promotion opition is right at the bottom, when you're creating a new user group)
