should be in the help files of the forum. if you set your forum's settings so that each topic has to be previewed by a moderator, you can do that with the first option. the second option lets you delete old topics me thinks.

anyways, concerning your mod/admin thing: admin is the uberman and can not only view the admin cp, but is also the only person to change people's settings (except for warnings). a moderator can only open, close, pin, unpin, etc. topics and help keep your forum in order. he cannot however change any board settings, so you will still be in full control if you do ont give him admin powers.

if you trust your friend you can also make him super moderator. You can create an own group for that, by inheriting the moderator rights from the mod. group and then select "is super moderator" towards the bottom. after putting him in that group he now has the ability to moderate anywhere in your forum without being restricted to only one forum he was assigned to. it helps, but in smaller forums isnt really necessary.

A good rule of thumb is to never make anyone you don't personally know Super Moderator; i.e. don't give them full moderation power or access to the Admin CP.
