Default E-Mail validation

board #9
I have the "User Email Validation" checked in my Admin, which I thought meant the subscriber would receive an email to validate his proper email.
However, I notice that I am seeing their name/email in my Manage Validating, and I have to approve them.
Is that the way it is supposed to work? I thought an email would be sent to them and they would validate their email and I would be left out of the 'picture.'
Please advise and thank you.

Yes, if it's also switched to the E-mail validation, and the new members still didn't click on the link, it appears on your Admin CP, so you can approve or delete them manualy, and incomplete registration will be automaticly deleted after 30 days.

As I stated in my original post, I do have the "User email Validation" checked. I looked at the email for the person who signed-up and it is his correct email address (he is a friend of min) and he DID NOT receive an email for verification.

I am sorry. I thought I used the 'right way' to post. What am I doing wrong or what do I have to read to find out the 'right way' to post?

Edwin: what 30 day thing? I am getting confused.

Here you have the right way of posting.

Edwin meant the 30 days that I told you about above, any incomplete registration will be removed after 30 days automaticly, you can change this amount of days.

OK, so you have user admin validation activated

If a person has not clicked the link supplied in the validation email then you still have the option of manually validating them

Your people probably havent clicked the link yet, don't worry about the 30 day thing

As I stated above, the new member has NOT received an email which would allow him to validate his email address. I had to approve him by going to my admin and validating him manually. He did not receive an email!
Thank you.

Your topic title needs to be in this format next time:

Server #: Short Description of Problem

And as for your question, yes, they will show up in the manage validating until they validate themself or you go a head and do it.

Thank you. "Elmazagangi" already told me the correct way to post.

Re: "until they validate themself or you go a head and do it."
How do they validate themselves? As I have said, they 'did not' receive an email. Isn't that supposed to be the way they validate themselves? How could they validate themselves if they did not receive an email? (Or do I completely misunderstand the process?)
Thank you.

Sorry, I misread your post. Did they check their spam filter? It might have been picked up by it and move into their spam folder.

Nothing in his spam folder. I manually had to approve his joining.
But do think something might be wrong. About two hours ago I received an email (from Forumer) stating that a new member had verified his email address (I just can't find that email at the moment, my wife might have deleted it already when she 'took over' the computer.). He didn't verify anything because he did not receive an email. He only lives a few buildings away from me.
I am actually waiting for members to join, without my approving them, and they are waiting for an email, which they never receive, so they give up trying to join.
I wish I knew what was going on and whether that feature is, or is not, working.
Thank you.
