Hey guys. This is going to sound a little silly and to be quite honest, I am always hesitant to ask for help, but here is the situation.

Someone set up my board for me and used her email addy to start it. So, when I went in to change things to my email addy, it asked that a validation email to be sent. No problems there except that I haven't recieved any email and I have hit the resend validation email link many many times over the past few days.

My email address is working fine, so I don't know where this is going, but now I can't really do anything on my own board, let alone log into the admin section. Please help!

The url to my forum is as follows: http://cmarshall.forumer.com

This occurred on April 5th. Thanks so much...your time and patience are greatly appreciated!! *hugs Tina

Hi Tina! I hope it's okay that I reply to you. I know I'm a newbie here but I just wanted to give you a response as all the mod's and admin here seem very busy.

Firstly, I'm having the same problem as you are, Tina. I set up a board very recently and decided that I wanted to change the email address to something more appropriate and the validation email has yet to arrive. I also can't log into my admin section.

But never fear! I wanted to know if other people were having the same problem so did a search on this forum. It turns out that the admin and mod's recognise this as a known problem and are doing all they can to remedy it. I'm sure they will make everyone aware on here when it is fixed. In the meantime, I recommend you keep clicking "Resend Validation Email". Perhaps one will eventually get through. Fingers crossed, eh?

And Tina, don't feel like anything you ask is silly. If people don't report problems they're having, errors can't be fixed.

I have full confidence that this will be sorted out soon, but these things take time. Let's just sit this out for a while. If the wait gets unbearable, you could always start a new forum. Your old one will be deleted automatically within 30 days without activity.

I may not have been any help, but I hope that it's brought you comfort knowing that someone else is having the same problem and it is being worked on. All the best!

[Edit: If your board is very recent it may be on the second server. When this server was announced the Admin did say that there may be a few bugs to begin with. It is possible that this is one of them, but of course I can't say for sure. I'm on the second server though, and I don't think everyone is having this problem. Good luck!]

Tina -

The validation email should be in your "Bulk" mail box.

alot of times it might be their internet service provider that is not allowing email through or their spam filtering...try a email provider like yahoo, hotmail or lycos as they are free and you can set spam filters and bulk email settings.

Thanks guys, especially Suzi...it IS nice to know that I am not the only one...I thought that I had just done something screwy and therefore couldn't get back in. It's been very frustrating.

I have been checking my bulk mail folders and still nothing, so that isn't it. I got the initial email from forumer at the same address that I am waiting for the validation email, so I know it is not the address, plus I have been receiving mail there as usual.

I will just keep doing as you suggested Suzi and keep clicking the resend validation link and hope for the best until this can be resolved. Thanks so much for your support! Keep me posted on how things are with your situation! Thanks!! Tina

Cextreme, if you don't have any problems then I would suggest you go into your Admin Control Panel and go to System Settings, Security & Privacy. Go to the heading (in the main section) Security (Troublesome Users). The 2nd option is:

New registration email validation?
Make admin manually preview all new accounts or make new users validate their email address

You can choose from none, User Email Validation or Admin Validation. If you choose none then anyone can join by just registering. User Email Validation seems to give people trouble as people are not receiving emails to validate. Admin Validation is where you have to go into settings and say who you want to allow membership to.

I hope this helps and perhaps new members will be able to join without being stuck in validation.

Tina, you're most welcome for the reply. I didn't want you to think you were alone in this and I noticed on older posts (with the same issues) people also received similiar responses as "check your junk or spam folders" or "read the FAQ" which is all very well, but unfortunately don't assist us in any way. You may like to check out this post in Bug Reports. It's very recent. Limez is working on this problem. Validation Email?, not sending I also recommend you keep checking in Bug Reports, just in case it's sorted out and posted there.

Just to clear it up about emails, I've signed up several times with my own board (and a friend has also) with different addresses. None have got through so far. I have a hard time believing that the problem is with ALL of the email providers I use. So far nothing for a Runbox account (had no problem receiving my signup email with my details, as in Tina's case, and also excepts all spam automatically - it doesn't block anything). Also nothing (in inboxes, or junk/spam folders) for a Lycos UK account, Hotmail account or Yahoo UK account.

why don't you all just make validations "admin approve only" and do that work around as that is what i do...i'm always in my admin/cp anyway about every hour or so and then i know who is exactly trying to sign in or up and can check the email providers and if i'm on my board(which if i am on line i always am)in admin mode it is so easy to click "admin/cp" and quickly check it all out
