I am having trouble uploading attachments to any given topic. We wanted to upload a file so that members of my forum could download it but everytime I tried uploading the attacment I got the famous "This page cannot be displayed" message. Could I be doing something wrong, it was just a zip file with the Microsoft AntiSpyware installer.

any help would be appreciated

What is the file size? Remember you only have a 500k limit.

If it's the Microsoft Antispyware program that you are trying to upload, then it's to big. You would be better off just linking to a legal download site (like this one: http://www.winplanet.com/download/17895.htm)
