| Member ![]() | Okay here is my question and I feel like a *n00b* for asking. But when you set up the user groups to allow or disallow the ads -- do the page views still count for those who do not have the ad removal? Like I have guests set up to see the ads -- do my page views still count against me. I mean I would think not since that is the reason to set that up. But I ask because I have a really small board (less than 20 active members) and 2 weeks ago I paid for the $5 removal (30,000 page views) and now the ads are back and I am down to 0. It took us a little over 3 months last time. Anyway, that is my problem. Here is my board if you need the link. |

| Active Forumer ![]() | it's been a while since I saw the inside of an ipb 1.3 admin cp panel, but I thought you have an option to see the access statistics on your board (in the statistics section). It's called page views per month or sth like that, be aware that this stat includes guest views, I don't think you'll have that many guests visiting though... however 30000 page views in 2 weeks seems excessive to me even including guest views that is... I wonder about search engines though: are they treated as members for the ad-view thingy, it wouldn't surprise me that this is the cause that your cash melted away... |

| Member ![]() | That's interesting -- I just went to look at the stats for topic views and in the past 2 weeks -- it says 1557. Explain to me how the search engine might work? |

| Active Forumer ![]() | PLEASE NOTE THIS MAY BE COMPLETELY WRONG.... I recall an option somewhere to allow a group/user to have no ad's.... so assuming I remember correctly, and you checked your page views and it's under 30k. Is there a chance you(or someone else) has deactivate the ad-removal option from 1 or more groups? |

I think (not sure though) that search engines will add up to the global pageview count so they will be included in the 1557 pageviews. If it is indeed so search engine spiders add up to the total page views then it looks like the system to count the pageviews for ad-related things isn't working as it should...

Thanks *Braindead* -- I am gonna have look around again and see what I can do about the search engines. I am not exactly sure I understand what you mean by spider section, but I will have a look see. So don't be surprised if I am back with more questions. If they are truly the culprit for my fBuck$ going down the tubes, then I need to solve this problem. ![]()

| Active Forumer ![]() | i don't think there's a setting for 'bots' or search engine views in the Admin CP. if there was, i woulda seen it. my Fbucks have been dwindling really fast too, but my board gets a lot of member views. i don't wanna pay for the 'bots' though. here's a thing i just found out that kinda worries me... a member mentioned that they see the ads sometimes. members who are logged in should never see the ads. i'm a little curious though... if they're seeing ads, are the views they make when they see em counted against the $$$ i paid?i don't think i'll pay for ad removal when my 5 bux runs out, because i think the whole system might be buggy. it's a waste of money to pay em off if members still see them from time to time. i feel like i might be paying for them to see ads. ![]() also, people on PCs with the Firefox browser have the option to not see ads anyway, so i'm paying for them to not see something that they've already blocked on their own. it makes no sense to me. | Active Forumer ![]() | ah I just checked and the bot section is not directly accessible through the forumer forum admin cp, that is correct. to access it do the following: - login to your admin cp your link now looks like: Code: http://xxx.?.forumer.com/admin.php?adsess=2d89d4611e6c2c83edc1ee48606103a1 - in the address bar add &act=op&code=spider at the end of the link and hit enter, this will look something like: Code: http://xxx.?.forumer.com/admin.php?adsess=2d89d4611e6c2c83edc1ee48606103a1&act=op&code=spider In the "Treat spider/bot as part of which group?" you see which group spiders belong to. It looks as bots are treated as guests so if this is also the case on your forum that should be good. Last edited by Braindead; 05-07-2005 at 11:26 AM. |
