Default An issue relating to a forum

Hello, I'm Tokoyami.

I have an issue regarding a friend's forum. I was recently told by a friend of mine to go to this forum. Earlier the day the forum was working fine and there were no problems or such and everything was going like the usual. Just an hour ago, I revisited this forum and found that there was an error on the board not allowing me to log in or check the forum.

The odd thing of this event is the Admin CP is still available(I am friends with three of the admins) and it shows that the topics are still there and haven't been touched with so the topics within the forum couldn't be deleted. Also whenever I click on the forum link, it leads me to the forumer website.

The forum link with the problem is http://picceta.1.forumer.com/index.php .

Can someone help me to notify what went wrong or perhaps it was shut down for a reason? I checked the other forums with a 1 and they seem to be working fine. I would be very appreciative about this if someone is willing to answer.

Thank you for your time reading this and have a good day.

How many administrators do you have in total? Having more than one can be chaos. I strongly recommend having only yourself as an administrator, no matter how well you know the others. One of them or yourself has screwed something up in the Admin Control Panel. You need to talk with them about what they've done.

The only admin on at the time was the lead admin, and nothing has been done at the time except for 1 thing, he unbanned an old member who had been banned several months ago for behaviour and this happened right after his ip was unbanned.

Now I'm pretty sure unbanning someone's IP wouldn't affect the board a lot, especially causing the forum to disappear.

I checked today's logs and only the lead adminstrator was on at the time.

I can also see by what you mean from having too much administrators but they haven't been changing stuff around in the Admin CP lately, only changing titles, banning members and activating members.

admins can remove logs... someone might have done something to your forum on purpose

I'm the lead admin of the forum, I was the only one on at that time, a old banned member had just convinced me to give him a last chance, so I unblocked his IP address and then this happened, maybe it was just bad timing for him that it happened but I'm guessing he did something but I don't know, I saw in my logs that I did a "Board Settings Updated, Back Up Written", is there anyway I can set the forum back to the way it was when I did the back up?

And you may be right about having too many admins, although, each of our admins has been admin for about a year at least and I was the only one on at the time...

Thankyou for your assistance

This is a strange situation, I'm not exactly sure what could be the case.

However, I can answer your question about restoring the forum. This cannot be done, as there is no way to go to a previous backup. Sorry.

Well thanks for trying, I appreciate it, but can you tell me this? Before someone offered me a forum (can't remember what host) but I didn't want to lose all my topics etc, he told me we could copy the database accross to another forum, is this actually possible?

No - forumer can not give you copies of your database as stated in the FAQs

I see, so theres no other way apart from starting a new forum, I know it may not seem like a big deal but the forum has been up for over 2 years and it would be a shame to have to re start it...but I guess I'll have to...

Thanks for replies, very appreciated, hopefully I won't need to post this sort of topic again.

it seems that the html files may have been edited. It a long shoot but try resynchronising the database templates (in Skins & Templates > HTML Templates)

I can see what the problem is but I don't know how to solve it for maybe a moderator can. It seems that all your url's are wrong. where it should be http://picceta.1.forumer.com/index.php?act=Reg&CODE=10 it coming up as http://forumer.com/index.php?act=Reg&CODE=10 so all your links are missing 'picceta.1.'

Hope this helps

Alright, I thought I had just let everyone know, we solved the problem, it was the ban settings, when i removed all the banned IP's and Names etc, it worked for everyone, we're still not sure what completly happened but its all back up and running
