I am also havign trouble getting it.

Here is what I did :

I uploaded the image as an emoticon and then I got the url of the emoticon and went to edit user groups thing and then I went ../emoticons/wizarddesigns/admin.gif

Tell me what I did wrong.

wizarddesigns.tk is my site.

I figured it out!

Alright - I will explain it for you Luster

Go there:

Then go to the bottom and upload an emoticon: Make it something like your usergroups name like admin.gif

Now post in the forum somewhere the emoticon - right click and get the properties and click the URL
Admin CP -> Users and Groups -> Manage User Groups
Next you want to copy the end from the /emoticon/yadayada and add a .. to the beginning

End result:
..URL
so for me its:
../emoticon/wizarddesign/admin.gif

It works:

Wizarddesigns.tk
^^ Check there - I am wizard the admin and it displays!

You don't put anything - that is all you should use.

../emoticons/boardname/admin.gif

Change boardname to your board name, and admin.gif to the file name of your team icon. Just read through this thread until you get it: http://forum.forumer.com/showthread.php?t=5397 It explains everything very well.

but, can members also have pip image (title/rank) under their avatar

No, you can only have either pips or a group icon.
