| VIP Team | http://johkalhaups.forumer.com/ i have different member groups (ie. junior member, member, advance member, etc) in my forum, all with different permissions, and when someone joins my forum, they join under the member group and i would like them to join under the junior member group. how can i change this? |

| Senior Forumer ![]() | Admin CP > Users and Groups > User Title/Rank Select "Edit" next to member and enter how many posts you want the members to have to enter the member group in the "Minimum number of posts needed" box. Then select "Edit" next to junior member and put 0 for "Minimum number of posts needed" box for that title. If the above doesn't work try this: Admin CP > Users and Groups > Manage User Groups From here select "Edit Group" next to your member group scroll down to the bottom and where it says "Group Promotion" place the number of posts you want your members to have to get into this category. Go through the process again and select "Don't Promote" for junior members. Last edited by Jman; 03-22-2005 at 06:23 PM. |

| VIP Team | i already have done the first thing that you said and about the second, if i select "don't promote" for junior members, wont that mean that they wont get promoted to the next step up (member)? |

| VIP Team | thats just it, its already set-up like that! heres how my groups go: junior member (starts at 0 posts) member (starts at 50 posts) advaced member (starts at 200 posts) superior member (starts at 500 posts) senior member (starts at 1000 posts) everything is set-up just like that and i have all the promotions correct too. i just dont get why they are coming in as members instead of junior mrmbers? |

| Member ![]() | Because the members group is the official group that has been set as the first group to get in after registration (and validation if enabled). This is also one of those usergroups that can not be deleted. IF you want them to be in your Junior members group on registration, you could have editted the name of the Members group in to Junior Member, and you wouldn't have had this problem in the first place. So what you have to do, is switch the Junior Members Group and the Members group. Switch names, switch settings. And then transfer ALL users from the previous members group to the new one (which used to be Junior Members group), and do the same with those of the Junior Member group (who would then be in the Members group). This may take some time, but is the only way. (You're even lucky to not have that many users yet.) |
