i have the code to the legend, where do i place it tho?

I placed mine in the Html templates>Edit Templates>Index Sections>Active user links, I put mine in there and it looks pretty good, I suggest you put it at the end of all the current code.

Actually, I would suggest putting the code in Admin CP > HTML Templates > Manage HTML > Board Index Sections > Active Users Row. In the textbox on that page, find this:
Quote:
<div class='thin'>{$active[NAMES]}</div>
and don't change that code, but put the code you have for the legend directly under that code
