The "Remember Me" function has stopped working for several of the members of my forum. Each time they visit the forum, they must log in again, even though this feature works for them on other forums, and even worked on my forum until about a week or so ago, and even though they aren't deleting their cookies.

Any help in fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Nevermind, I just realized that this belongs in the Bug Reports section....

I seem to have the same problem and the instructions in the FAQ section about
removing cookies don't work for me... I have to manually log in every time i visit
the forum. Also clicking "Delete cookies set by this board" doesn't help.

Forum: gigant.forumer.com

Thanks...

deleting cookies doesn't help me either, & some people stay logged in, while some (like me) don't.

I tried, and I was able to stay logged in even after 30 minutes of having the browser closed.

If you select the "remember me" feature, then you remove your cookies, cache, ect...it will not remember you. This feature works for me on the forums I have tested it on.

[ visit forumer modifications center today]

We now have phpBB modifications available.

yeah, i know it needs a cookie to remember me. i have no idea why it doesn't. i've tried everything. oh well, maybe one of these days it'll fix itself. it's not that much extra typing.

one thing i was thinkin might be the problem... i have 2 different names there. maybe it gets confused? i only use my biff name 99% of the time though.

i have several different names here though, cuz i used to have trouble being able to log in or post here, but it always logs me back in now. it didn't used to, that's why i'm thinkin it might fix itself eventually. :

it's the least of my problems though. i love my free forum.

(BTW, when i can only use 3 emoticons, i feel like a few of my fingers got cut off)

I've got the answer! (a clever member of my forum suggested this)

Update your forum bookmarks/shortcuts/links!

Forumer.com changed their forum adresses from forumer.com/[YOUR FORUM] to [YOUR FORUM].forumer.com some time ago.

For some reason automatic login doesn't work with the old urls anymore...

cheers and many thanx to forumer.com for the best free forum hosting service!

Silly people haha. Ok well the site to you board.. do you know if some people use URLS like:

.tk or cjb.net?

These shortened URLS are nice and convinient BUT they do have a bug when it comes to forums. Members are unable to stay logged in which gets them angry like the hulk (arrg ) instead of being happy (nice ). Usually its not because of having to log in when they visit but when they log in BEFORE clicking on "post topic" they then have to re-log in each time a page is refreshed. So please tell your users if they are using a free shortened URL to stop and use your original .forumer.com URL. Hope that helps see yo!

Biff, it could also be your computer - not the forum. Check your cookie settings if you are using IE.
