I was thinking that maybe we could have a little contest here... We could have anybody sign up that wants to or thinks they have the skill and battle each other with assigned themes... IE; The challenge could be - one day - To create a movie poster for... Say... 'The Day after Tomorrow'.

I think it could work out... Any comments or ideas?

Also say so if you would be interested in signing up.

That's an upcoming movie. Well we could catigorize the designers as to their skill levels and face them fairly... We'd need a judge, someone with a very, very good sence of design.

Well we could base it on other things... It was just an example... Now back to the point...

You need more than one judge if you want fair and balanced. It sounds fun but I'll sit out and be one of the judges if you like. I think that I am very unbiased and fair.

I think this is a great idea. And obviously, judges can't participate in the contest. And since I won't be participating since I have absolutely no artistic skills, I think I'll be a judge.

So what exactly do we want to do a contest on? Once you let me know, I'll make a post and pin it to the top. We'll set an ending date for the contest then too...

I honestly like the movie poster idea. I think we should base it one one sole movie as that would make them easier to judge. I personally would like to see the 'The Day after Tomorrow' poster contest.

I'lll enter, I'm not that good though

Yeh, the movie poster is a good idea, but i think we should have several films to choose from, such as the one suggested and other ones such as Lord of the Rings or possibly James Bond films etc

Okay, I say we pick two or three movies that you have to choose from in the contest.

1.) The Day after Tomorrow

2.) ?

2.) ?

I'd say that if Shane and I are acceptable judges then we would need at least one more judge, mabey up to 3 more.

If we try to stick to movies that are already released then there will be more material to work with. But that might not be as much fun.

I'd say 3 should do just fine. Infact, two judges would probably even work.

Well this is looking good. Go ahead and pin a topic. Alright, movies... We need rules - Such as maximum and minimum sizes and such..

It doesn't have to be all about movies, either.... We can base them on anything. OK maybe I'll be the one to make the catigories, since this was my idea, then I'll post them in a while. We can have 1 week deadlines. Now another question.... Do we want one big contest with all artists working on the same subject, or a series of 2-person face offs? If we have one with all included, we should have 3 or 4 rounds of a week or so each. Alright. I'll go devise some themes and rules, Be back in an hour or so to post them.

I like your second idea better. Everyone works on one of several projects to choose from for a week and then after 3 or 4 weeks the winner is decided by points given to them by each judge. Such as... first week one judge gives A 1st, B 2nd and C 3rd. The other judge gives B 1st, A 2nd and C 3rd. Points would be assigned to every available place such as... 1st=3 2nd=2 3rd=1 (depending on the number of entries). In the example A gets 5 points total, B gets 5 and C gets 2. After all of the one week rounds are over, every weeks totals are added together for each person and the places would be decided by the highest total points. If a tie occured, (unlikely), we could have a sudden death between the people who tie.

Just an idea... Take it or leave it. That method of using points has always seemed the most fair to me. It gives everyone an equal chance.
