As many of you know, I am from the great state of South Carolina (in the United States, for those who didn't know). For the past week our state has been breaking national news (albeit, whispers and end-of-broadcast mentions) about how our Governor, Mark Sanford, had gone missing. Apparently he had left the state on Thursday without telling anyone precisely where he was going (though his staff thought the Appalachian Trail). The big story that broke yesterday, though (and on Drudge), was that he admitted he was in Argentina having an affair with a woman.

Now Mark Sanford is supposed to be the rising star of the Republican Party, there have been tons of rumors that he will be a 2012 presidential candidate. He has strenuously opposed the Obama stimulus bill, refused money from the Federal Government (although it is a complicated issue of what he really wanted to do with it), and lead the fight for a Republican party founded on conservative, fiscal and moral principles.

All of that seems basically dead now for him. Its not a huge news story, but it is one that is happening in my state. And certainly could affect the world seeing as how he has absolutely no chance of running for president now. What do you guys think?
