Well, for a start, you could add more forums for global sports, instead of giving one for the US sports, then cramming all the non-us sports into 1 small section at the very bottom.

Instead of giving each US sport it's own section, make 1 forum called US Sports, and then put all the relevent forums in that.

I don't mean any offence here, but as a non-american, I didn't find anything that would make me want to join.

A few ideas for opening it up to more visitors globally, add a seperate section for proper football, and call it Association Football. I don't know about the other non US visitors, but there is nothing tthat annoys me more than to see the worlds greatest and without doubt, the owrlds most popular and lucrative sport continually being called soccer.

Second, try adding a section dedicated to moteorsport, then add subforums to that covering all the major ones, F1, CART, IRL, NASCAR etc.

You will want to add a section for combative sports as well, like boxing, kick boxing, karate, and other martial arts.

Also, whenever there is a major sporting event coming up, make a temporary section for that, for example, the olympic games are coming up in a few weeks, make up a special section concentrating on all the latest news from that.

And most importantly, don't flood the main page with forums, it gets too much for people to read through.

Instead, make single forums, then put sub forums in, with links on the main forum.

That's just my opinion anyway.

The banner is of secondry importance, having a flashy banner/logo alone won't bring visitors in, let alone keep them.

You need to get the content/layout sorted out first. Just because you don't like motorsports, it doesn't mean others don't. There are things I don't like, but if I wanted to attract more visitors, and I knew it was popular, I would add it, just for their sake.

Once you have got the structure sorted, then you move onto the appearance.
