Default Bedside weapons, anyone?

Real life scenario here:

It's 2am, you're sleeping in bed, and next thing you know you hear a sound that awakes you instantly. You come to the conclusion that someone is trying to enter your house uninvited and going to rob you and cause you grave harm. This guy is bigger and stronger than you, and the only way to defend yourself is potentially with a weapon (preferably a fire arm).

What do you use to defend yourself? Do you keep any weapons within arms reach?

Been there, destroyed that.

Guess I'll just get killed or something.............. I don't have any weapons .......lool

I'm not paranoid about things like this............. I have my cellphone near though (I use it as an alarm clock) so guess I would just dial 999

I think well trained dogs are not bad either (don't have one of those either unfortunatelly at the moment )

There is a golf club at the front door & a baseball bat at our back door. Upstairs they'll kill themself on the mountain of dirty clothes. Once the Castle Doctrine passes, my girl & I are going to buy hand guns & get proper training. I tried to get her a stun gun for her car (there are a lot of car jackings, as we are not far from down town) but she refused to use it so I didn't bother. For the price, I probably should have gotten one anyhow.

Big dude or not, there better be more than one of'em if they are in my house.

There was a home invasion not too long a ago, that's why I asked...

I'm kind of paranoid about things like this, but, my home is pretty secured as is, plus my bedroom is like a military arsenal. So, I pity the fool who tries to break in my house.

I have numerous weapons (which are locked up in a gun locker) in my bedroom, but I keep a Glock 22 along with some extra mags within arms reach.

Been there, destroyed that.

I have an idea about the dirty clothes - You should booby trap your house, so that a pair of really dirty, stinkin' pair of underwear falls on the intruders face upon breaking into the door...LOL

You should take advantage of getting a handgun, now that the supreme court passed that whole gun deal... Seriously, it's not a bad idea to get one and get proper training. I am an active shooter myself, and go out to the range about 3 times a week, it really does take the heat off work and keep stress levels down. Oh...if you ever need some pointers, I am here

Ohio currently has the conceal carry law, but once the Castle Doctrine passes, we are for sure going to get something. Maybe we should beat the rush & buy something now. Good thing I made my mistakes when I was 16, so I've got a clean record

I'm just very accident prone, so I am a bit worried. I tried working on the car once. I made it worse. Twice I've stripped the oil plug! Arg.

Sadly weapons are forbidden in holland, and shooting robbers to . But if someone would enter and I would notice I always have my baseball bat around behind the bed. And if that doesn't help my just awakened face would scare them to death

One would think that you would have the right to self defense at least....

Just stupid kid stuff...

As far as doing it again? Lets just say my parents raised me right. Not only did I learn my lesson, I felt it. I knew better, but I was a adolescent, so I didn't care.

Great... now I'm hijacking the thread... back to the topic

Isn't Holland peaceful? How many break-ins are there in a year?

Ahh yes, the crime that earns money for the courthouse, rather than costing it. Plus it keeps the streets safe.

I know the Government outlawed this just a while back, but I have a Katana within easy reach "should" something happen.
