You don't need backlinks unless you want Pagerank.
You;ll need traffic more than backlinks.

and traffic u get by gaining backlinks

the more quality backlinks the better the seo rankings u have the easier they find u on google and yahoo.

You can got to google.com/addurl then add your Forumer forum there, and hopefully when someone searches GFX Mania, it will show up.
