Who uses digg? Personally I don't but I keep meaning to give it a try

I do sometimes, they have some very interesting articles, pictures, videos, jokes etc.

However, I don't submit to digg only to BWN

Frontpage crashes shared hosting, you need VPS or dedicated, unless you get one of those specialized hosting plans, so their server settings are configured just right.

Also, doesn't SU have a huge bounce rate?

Yes, it's called the Digg Effect. There is a host that specializes in servers able to handle the digg effect, I think it's called "Survive Digg Web Host".

I have never heard about a bounce rate for SU, but it has been working wonders for my blog.

I use Digg, but I don't typically comment or submit content.

For the record, those Digg-proof webhosts are crap. There are shared webhosts that can survive the frontpage, you just need a decent host.

I use Digg to submit new websites/projects that I might be working on. About a year ago I was actively using Digg to find articles of interest, but I slowly stopped.

There are always blog posts about them being owned by the digg effect.

I can certainly vouge for this; my site hit the Digg homepage a while back with Media Temple's $10 shared hosting plan (cheapest plan available) and survived 50,000 hits and a file download as part of the article in two days no problem. Not only that, but the site was a WordPress powered site with no caching plugins, WordPress of course being notorious for going down when hitting the front page. It's certainly possible.

They were of course humiliated and said everything would be working next time. Two days later, the server died immediately again. Shortly there after they disappeared.

Oh, your red theme? I remember you talking about it on your blog, about some adult site sporting your theme.

I have heard of asmallorange, and they seem to get a lot of attention and praise from everyone, but I have never heard of Media Temple.

No, it was a modification for OS X 10.4's Front Row to make it look like the [at the time] new AppleTV interface. A WordPress theme would never make the front page of Digg.

From what I've seen, Media Temple gets more praise than ASO. I was with (mt) for two years; I just moved to ASO for a smaller hosting plan.
