This is one of those ancient debate topics, but which really came first? What do you think, but most important: why?

The chicken must have come from an egg and the egg must have come from a chicken etc. etc. for a really long time.

What came first, the chicken or the egg? What is your theory and is it a solution to the paradox?

The chicken....as God created the animals...and then they reproduce

Like all animals....none was born. They were created.
That is why I think that the chicken was first

The chicken evolved from another spcies over a long period, then they would have evolved into using eggs for their young. So this would be the chicken, then gradually the egg.

Problem Child, let's expand that way of thinking. If the chicken gradually evolved from another species wouldn't it mean that the chicken came first.

If there where an animal which was the forefather tp chickens (let's call them saberchickens, and make them have saberteeth. One day suddenly a saber chicken met another saber chicken and they decided to have a baby with eachother. After combining their DNA, the off-spring was genetically different from its parents to such an extent that it was a new species (this doesn't happen over one generation but millions of years), wouldn't the new standard chicken borned, be the first, because it was technically born from another species egg? Or would that egg be of the new species?

But then again, I might be interpreting this age-old question to literary? The escence of the question might not be the "chicken or the egg" but more a mental excersise of religion vs. science?

What are your thoughts?

Religion vs Science....yeah...you have a point there....
That may be the whole thing on this question....I still take the religion side though

The chicken would be a cross-breed between 2 other (no longer existing animals) and when they bred the egg was formed and the chicken came out but neither of the egg's parents (originally) were chickens.

I always take the side of science more proof I can see, none of this believing c***, I need proof damnit!

SO yeah anyway it's more of a religion VS science thing, and I think through evolution you can't really say either was first, but if anything, I suppose the fully evolved for would first come from an egg, so it's egg for me

The egg came first because chickens evolved from oter species and to get a chicken you need 2 animals to cross-breed then you got an egg and from then on, chickens
