Exclamation About Dual core battle....

I am wondering that why intel lose to AMD (Almost all PC web say intel is a loser)
So, here is the 3 processor I like the most, (actually only 2 cause I'm not a fans of AMD) :

1) Intel Pentium D 840 have 3.2GHz of clock speed and 800MHz of FSB (Front Side Bus), 2MB L2 Cache ( no HT supported )
2) Intel Pentium Extreme Edition 840 have 3.2GHz of clock speed and 800MHz of FSB, 2MB L2 Cache ( have HT )
3) AMD Althon 64 x2 ( Which is the winner of most test ) have 2.4GHz of clock speed and (check from ebay) 1GHz of FSB, 2MB L2 Cache.

So why can't Intel win, they just have less FSB from AMD, others specification is all faster than AMD. I just wondering are the guys make all these are friends, fans, or buy from AMD to promote their processor?

For one of the test I check. URL : Click Here

Hmm, the stats of the AMD are remarkably slower than that of the Pentiums (except the FSB), but I think it may be due to the fact that the Athlon is actually a 64 bit processor. I don't have too much knowledge on the AMD processors, but out of the two Intels, the Pentium Extreme Edition 840 would be the better choice. While the Pentium D is good (and is the one I'm looking at for my next PC), the Pentium EE is better because of the HT. They are both physically dual-core processors, but the HT in the EE pentium acts like a quad-core processor so to speak, so it would get jobs done faster, esp. when multi-tasking. But the Pentium Extreme Edition is very expensive.

But all the magazine and about 80% of some PC web say that AMD Althlon 64 x2 4800 is the best dual-core processor.

Yea I've heard it is good, however I haven't had any experiences with AMD, only ever used Intels. Apparently, AMDs do run very hot though, more so than Intels.
But for the processor you want, you have to ask yourself if you're ever going to use all the speed - a Pentium D may be sufficient for you for about half the price.

Intel processors are not as faster as AMD's for various reasons. There is a thread somewhere in general chat that explains this reason better. All i have to say is with AMD's you dont look at the clock speed, but at the speed amd rated it at. Example a amd 3200, runs at a 2.2ghz, but performs just like a intel at 3.2 ghz. It's in the way the processor processes things.

amd wins at everything. and its not because its 64bit based.

plus its way cheaper then intel and amd actually has an upgrade path. intel keeps changing sockets and stuff.

I currently have the Extreme Edition 840, and it works beautifully - Not sure exactly why I didn't go with AMD, but I'm happy with this processor.

Just get the fastest processor that you can afford (Intel or AMD) and get at least 1 GB of the fastest RAM that your motherboard can support (ie. PC2100, PC2700, PC3200, etc...) and that you can afford (go with brand name RAM too, like Crucial, Corsair, or OCZ. you can run into problems down the line if you use cheap stuff.). Just dont buy and "Value" RAM. I am personally an AMD fan, but thats just me. It seems that you get the same performance out of an AMD as you do an Intel and you will pay alot less for it.

OCZ is crappy IMO. Plus for most people generic/value/oem ram is fine.

Intel also has 64bit precosser!!! I love Intel (actually I love high perfomance processor ). So I think do I need to switch to AMD? But some one say AMD will have high tempreture, will this reason make it slow down? ( My computer is always switch on for 18-22 hrs a day )

yeah but they cost more and don't perform as well.

Plus they run hotter.
