You do not buy a space at Forumer, you sign up for one. It is free.

See your wrong, if your forum is really big you can sell sig space and i believe you can sell links.

But other then that you really cant do anything else

You cannot sell space for real money anywhere, only for fbucks, hence I suggested the fshops.

I've been reading the above posts, and yes I'm a newbie myself, although Ive been participaating in a certain forum for several years in the most popular forum for expats in Russia for several years.
So I have some knowledge in this area. So, in general I do believe it helps in building your forum if you have had regular experience in being a member of a forum that is in the area of your interest.If not, then start reading similar forums of which you have just developed.

I think it's common sense, if you have this great oppurtunity to do develop a forum without having to design your own, or pay for such services to develop it for you, then take it. Especially if you haven't got the capacity of finance or knowledge to do your own from scratch. Like Me But that doesn't stop you doing something more in the future. You may well have your own forum with your own web-site in the future. Take this oppurtunity to practice and develop yourself.

But whilst here on foromer, just some ideas. How about increasing the response and activity of your forum. As a beginner developing your forum, you might feel like me. That your talking to yourself. How do can you change this? Well forumer has a section to boast your forum, and I suppose you can start there.

But other ideas, How about in your classified or useful links section for starters, that you offer free advertising as swop. That is if they advertise with your forum that they must in return advertise your forum in their website or forum. And the more they promote your forum or site the more you will promote them. Of course you will listen to your members, and if several of your members back them in recommendations this contact will have five stars in your forum.

You could start from here in forumer of course, but you could make your search of relevent websites within the subject of your forum, and contact these sites asking them for a swop of advertising. Even if you are lonely on your site inform them how you're contacting them is what you are doing with many and your site is new but will be busy soon due to how you are promoting your forum. That's just one idea.

You could also ask for permission of copying and pasting good scripts from their forum or web-site which is highly interesting , informative and relevent to your forum. Of course you will quote the pasting, and you may yet again offer permission for them to quot from their site.

That's a start, just my ideas. I have come up with many ideas, and it won't be the first time that someone come up with that it's already been thought of. Or that I'm hitting a brick wall because of this, that, and the other. What do you think?
