I don't agree that Forumer staff are unprofessional or 'a failure' - I have always found them very supportive and informative. But I do agree that it seems odd to have the Community Forums as the first tab.........

Banned for no reason? There is nearly always a reason for a ban. It's either bumping threads, inappropriate post/thread, spamming, PM spam, or the 7 day ban for not following the B/S/T rules. Also, the ad revenue sharing makes zilch, unless you're lucky.

u shud do one of those choose ur colour things like on hotmail, yh tht wud be cool, though i dont mind the current colour it is a bit to plain and white, though since its a support forum, and its intended use is to reach those who do not know tht much about the internet,forums or watever its clear and simple.

Ok let me explain what I meant by a professional "feeling" at DP.

Txt talk isn't as common there. Most users there try to talk in complete sentences and spell out their words. Also, they're there for business, not chatting (even the ones in the discussion forums for the most part).

I wasn't talking about either staff at all. Although now that you guys mention it, their staff members aren't really distinguished from the other members. To me that seems to be more professional. Some of you guys are saying that they ban a lot. Well to me it seems like comparing college and high school. In high school (Forumer) if you mess up, you get sent to the office, argue with the principal for a while, get your parents to come argue, and then get suspended. In college if you screw up, they can just kick you out of the school.

Well as you have mentioned, they are there for business, people here come for support, that already makes it different.
People who come here are not professionals (in the computing field), many don't know much about computers, and internet, all they want is to make a forum to chat to their friends, so of course you won't get a professional feeling from them the same way as you get from members on DP.

txt talk is not that common here either, we do ask people to use proper English (though some people just would not listen or do as asked eh Gabi?), but again, many are foreigners so we have to make allowances for them.

Maybe we are "too" distinguished, but it might be a good thing too, people need to know who to trust with their admin details and by us being distinguished they can safely assume that when we ask for an admin account to be sent to us, we do it to help and not to hack and destroy their forums, so again, different use for staff here and there.
All the staff on DP has to do is enforce the rules, what we're here for primarily is to help and support people, so they need to see who is staff.

Well as we are a support forum we can't really ban people so much as other forums can, they might "misbehave" on fHQ, but they still have their own forums (most of them) and might need help some day so to ban them would mean to deny them from our services.
Clearly that's not a good option, so we tend to do a permanent ban as a last resort.

Exactly!!

Now, lets go back a little bit. When I was staff, this was not high school, this place was college.

It's pretty simple really. You break the rules, you get shown out the door.... In my eyes, there's NO reason in the world one should break the rules. The rules are written all over the place on this forum. It is the responsibility of the user to click the thread and READ them, and believe it or not, there's the arrogant ones out there who just register and not bother to read them thinking they're all mighty and do whatever. Therefor I do NOT have the slightest bit of sympathy for those banned - hell, I don't have sympathy for anyone... If you're looking for it, it's located in the dictionary between sh*t and syphilis.

Now, on that topic "users are banned here for no reason" wah wah wah... That's what the user banned WANTS you to think. Most likely, the person is running his mouth to his friends on other messages boards saying false things about the reason why he was banned. "x moderator is on a power trip and just banned me for no reason". But, you don't know what actually triggered then ban. And let me tell you something, unless you're a spammer or a troll, it's pretty ****ing hard to get banned from here with the current staff. They will give you chances.
