Hey there Forumer Folks! There's another forum I have been a member of for a couple of years and recently was asked to take over as a Co-admin for a "retiring" administrator. I noticed at THAT forum, there are two options that are QUITE handy. This is a phpBB2 by the way...

The first option is you as an Admin can enable or disable users from registering multiple accounts under one email addres. Handy for those who RPG and want to use more than one character.

The SECOND is the ability to block selected user from the CHAT facility. (The did this THERE so only the Staff could chat).

Is there any way we could do these things here?

You can ban certain users from chat, I am sure you can IP ban them.

That won't be handy if the user has a dynamic IP.
You can't change those email settings in phpBB2.

On the IP ban for chat... so far as I know the user has to first GET into chat before that can be done and the dynamic IP would defintiely put a crimp in that idea wouldn't it?

On the email thing though I just got a little lost.

I presume that forum is not hosted by Forumer.

But with Forumer phpBB boards, none of those options are available.

Unless you use some other free chatbox, where they give you admin capabilities to ban a person.

That would require each user to register again right?
Unless it is something like Prillian.

http://mirc.com/ is a good chat software. You have to register a license to create chat room, though.

mIRC is an IRC client, anyone can create a room, youneed a license only to use the software.
Anyone can use any username.
