Well it's time to start sharing these reasons with the community, because we won't be sitting around and getting ignored for ever. At least give us some solid answers, other than "they're being abused and can get us in trouble".

And yes, I am aware that this thread is for phpBB features, but there's been many made concerning IPB features that have gotten the same attention this one has, turning cheeks.

And if Forumer has had problems with features being abused illegally, then why can the other hosting services continue providing these features with no problems? Have they done something to secure it? If so, why can't Forumer?

Because those companies either haven't had their systems abused, the most likely reason due to the absence of many users, or they really don't care about legality.

I find it quite funny that you yell about how "we are being ignored" when you are responding to a fStaff's post, in a thread with several fStaff's posts. Added to that fStaff has made dozens of replies on this subject, that is hardly ignoring. I think we can trust fStaff with Forumer, even to the point of "only" telling what they want about their company.

I completely agree with you Romanus. It is their company, a very good one at that. I am simply looking for a better response than "Forumer doesn't offer these features for legal issues that we won't be telling you about". If these issues were discussed in the open, we would have a better idea of why we can't have them.

I am fine with not being able to have features, I simply don't want to have harmless information kept from me. We get enough of that from our governments, in both America and Canada. I really don't wish to have to put up with it within a support forum, either!

And by the way, it's nice to be able to have an "intellectual" debate every now and then. It keeps me sane, thanks!

Edit: Also, by features I don't mean Board Wrappers, or anything else like that. I can see where there would be legal issues involved with that, and quite frankly I am doing fine without them!

Lord Viking and others, I have good news: Limez will get these seriously considered/done when he returns from vacation in March

I didn't wake up and decide to arrest you. You made that decision. Just like I didn't wake up and decided to give you an infraction or ban you. You made that decision by breaking the rules. You are just more paper work and overtime in my life.

I would love to have mass pm and email options. It would really help out.

BTW, when can we expect phpbb3?

I have seen forums being used for illegal purposes too. Even forumer forums. So the restrictions/limitations are not preventing anything. My point is you can always abuse if someone really wanted to. Eventually places get shut down or removed because of illegal or inappropriate activity. That is what the Forumer Staff should be checking on.

Romanus, you are making valid points but your points don't apply to what I am asking. If the features I wanted were sooo bad, then they wouldn't be provided by PHPBB. You are being pessimistic where as I am an optimist and see a lot of positive things that can come out of making these features available. Most importantly.....happy customers!!!!

If you wanted, you can have people report abuse and get a bonus (maybe extra fBucks) for valid abuse reports. Which is more incentive to help out Forumer.

I most definitely support mass/bulk PM's and mass/bulk emails .

Without these functions many contact areas, which are essential on a message board/forum go missing.

A simple example a small 'Welcome' message pre coded in for new members.

Once Limez comes back, there's some things that really need to be fixed. However, Limez has said that he will seriously get these done.

It's a great idea, and Forumer IPB could use some more features as well.
What more could you want in terms of features on IPB sc? I'm really happy with the flexibility we have on forumer IPB
