Thumbs up Paid Premium Service - Remove Restrictions...

Originally sent to Limez with no response:

Hey Limez...

I know and its obvious to you that Forumer has thousands of committed members with great great Forums!

Within Forumer's limitations (phpbb), Admins like myself eventually want more out of their forums, they want the full capabilities of phpbb as well as keep up to date with phpbb features etc...

I'm pretty sure you are aware of people building up their forums on Forumer then reaching a point where they just forget it and switch to paid hosting...hence forumer losing yet another member..

To be honest I'm considering switching right now..But my forum http://musicspot.10.forumer.com has been run for more than a year and has so many members and posts ... I can't think of leaving it behind...

So my suggestion to you is that Forumer offer a Free Service as well as a Paid Premium Service (I know phpbb is supposed to be free, but what we are paying for is the hosting by forumer)

A premium user could also have access to all phpbb features such as bulk emailing members. (which has been disabled)
Also access to alotted server harddisk space for file storage and the whole works that non-forumer forums do...

At this point I'd thank you for reading this Message, and hope you consider this suggestion...I do not doubt its been suggested already or possible already in the works
hehe..So hope to read a reply from you Limez

The whole purpose of Forumer is to offer free forum hosting, by offering paid hosting, even to a few members would defeat that purpose.

But what if Free Members are requestion Paid Hosting?

Wouldn't Forumer like that in the long-term anyways?

I signed up with forumer and built up a successful forum...Paid hosting will be more the better...

Really and truly, I just want the features that I can;t use due to Forumer restricting them...

Limez is on vacation, I don't know when he returns though, a mod could probably tell you.

At this current time Forumer only offers free forum hosting. As for paid forum hosting, it could possibly happen in the future. I would definitely wait to hear the response from Limez though since he owns Forumer.

Forumer's main focus is to attract users who cannot afford paid hosting. That is why Forumer is free.

However, to add in some sort of "premium package" (IE -- no ads, more features, better up time, better response times from staff for support, etc) for a monthly fee wouldn't be a bad idea. I am actually all for this idea. We will have to wait and see though

Since my parents won't let me pay, paying with fbucks would be cool also.

Thats a really good idea, oompa, I would like that. Of course you can always turn your fbucks in for real money with a paypal account.

Great idea Apprentice. The money I put in for ad removal would definitely cover the premium costs and I would get what I have wanted for a long time.

Well you know technically if you do not have access to paypal or USD and you would use fbucks that you didn't purchase Limez would be in a way paying the service for you then... I don't think it should be allowed to purchase using fbucks.

But you'd still have to contribute to the community in some way to get those fbuck$ if you didn't buy them. And seeing as Limez obiously puts a monetary value on contributing to the community (ability to cash out)...

I'd actually be all for a premium service, as long as it wasn't overpriced and features weren't added exclusivly for paying users (so only have things like increased file size, ad removal and the such).

Please do not PM me for support.

My fear with a premium paid service is focus will begin to be taken away from us regular non-paying users. While it might not mean taking away of features for us, it would probaly mean better support for these "premium members", and stuff like that. And remember, Forumer was made for free forums.

^I hear you...

But if Forumer does move towars this direction... I mean you can't turn down direct income...
Something will be worked out...We'll all receive equal support as in IPB and phpBB.. Just premium users would get support on the features that free users do not have...

(I think the mods may agree on this one?)

But I'm all for a paid service..Increased avatar size, ad removal (as previously mentioned) as well as ability to bulk mail members etc...
And on forumer's reliable servers, we need not think of going to a different host to restart our forums from scratch...
