I posted this in the General Support area for Phpbb and was told by Moridin12 to make the suggestion here. So here goes.

Is there a chance the feature of showing the IP numbers of new members waiting for admin approval to be shown in the email that the admins get?

I've been getting a lot of spam bloggers lately and it would help a lot if we had this ability.

I don't quite understand what you mean?
Do you mean that you would like it if users ahd to wait for the admin to validate their iP?

which skin does your foum use, I like it a lot.

You have to wait until phpBB 3 is released, cause phpBB 2 is lack of many features. Just be patient.

I don't know (any) phpbb, but I think he wants a way to show you the IP, along with whatever else it shows about them, of the new members waiting for admin approval in the email it must send.

Exactly, Steve.

I remember having an IPB forum on another host and it had this option. I thought it would be very useful to know the IP number of new users instead of trying to catch them in the admin panel when they are logged on the forum.

Hey, even if they post one spammy post can you not pull their ip address off the post?

But why should we have to wait for them to post to ban the IP? It's not only more work for the admins, but it will also peeve off the legitimate members.

I know they're spam bloggers because they are leaving their web site addresses in their profiles. I delete them as users, but they keep coming back again....and again. If I had their IP number I could get rid of them on a more semi-permanent basis. Banning their email address is useless because they always get a new one anyway.

And as far as waiting for phpbb3 for this service, I think it's avalable now. A friend of mine has a phpbb forum on another server, and she is able to get the IP number of the new member in the admin approval email. Why can't we?
