Default A teamspeak server?

Quote:
TeamSpeak is a quality, scalable application which enables people to speak with one another over the Internet. TeamSpeak consists of both client and server software. The server acts as a host to multiple client connections, capable of handling literally thousands of simultaneous users. This results in an Internet based teleconferencing solution that works in a variety of applications such as team mates speaking with one another while playing their favorite online game, small businesses cutting costs on long distance charges, or for personal communication with friends and family.

Among TeamSpeak's incredible range of features are crystal clear voice communication, Windows/Linux cross-platform design for both the client and server, a built-in web based administration panel for the server, and a highly scalable user permissions system. An added feature to Authorized TeamSpeak Host Providers (ATHPs) that wish to rent servers to their customers includes the ability to spawn multiple instances of the server from a single server session, thus easily facilitating 'server-farming'.

TeamSpeak is free of charge to non-commercial users. Please see our FAQ for more information on licensing and terms of use. If you're new to TeamSpeak, please visit our Getting Started page for further information.

I've seen many companies similar to Forumer use this software.
It would be an extremely effective method for members in regards to getting quick support and I would be happy to help out if Forumer did this. I'm enquiring as to whether Forumer could run a teamspeak server for support and other purposes of a similar nature?

It was just a wild thought - I'm curious to see whether it's a bit too wild or if you agree, so all comments are appreciated. ^_^

Regards,
stylus

It's a dumb idea for Forumer. If Forumer is going to go that way, they might as well higher a professional staff team, actual technicians and a professional teamspeak server. Teamspeak is better left to online games.

Oh, wow, that is a cool idea, Stylus! It would be like a Forumer hotline people could dial through their computer. That would be pretty cool, and would really aid in fast support with things such as bugs.. ^_^

(Mg2, Forumer already has a technician. )

I have to say that is a good idea I love teamspeak.
The only thing I find strange about it is that forumer is about forums in which you type.
But I can see it's uses for helping people.
If forumer had one I would hang out on it.

That is what I'm suggesting we implement.

That's a fair comment - Have you used Teamspeak for purposes such as this? It's really useful and could cut down the amount of work Mods have on this board, by merely answering some questions verbally.

No, because mods would get questions like "OMG HELP ME MY FORUM WAS HACKED" and "HOW DO I ADD TEAM ICONS??!?!?!". It's easier to ignore stupid people on forums.

If you have administrated a TS server before, I'm sure you would agree the kick/ban function which comes with every admins permissions would most definitely suffice in some of those cases. I don't however feel that people would be rude on TS, as it's a more direct form of a communication (if you know what I mean).

Yes, I have administrated TS. I guess it's ok, I just don't see it as a professional move for Forumer. One, the staff here is not active enough, nor paid and they have no definite schedules. It would often be empty as well.

I don't feel you are in the right place to say the staff aren't active enough.
However, where did I state the staff on this board would have to run the TS server?
Limez could choose some users who are willing to & and have them manage the system, I guess.

Thanks for your comments Mg2 - Much appreciated.

Why don't you feel I'm in the right place? It's true. You cannot possibly expect a member of the current staff team to be on the server 24/7. It's just not realistic.

You aren't in the right place to state whether the staff are active enough on their board.

Where did I state the TS server should have staff on it 24/7, or even that the current staff team needs to run the TS server?

I doubt forumer would benefit from a teamspeak server as it is too costly probably to make it worthwile and support if better left to the forums.

Sincerly,Ryan 9500 Fbucks donated to worty causes so far. More Coming! PM ME TO LINK EXCHANGE!!!!
