Default Sensitive threads and the dreaded bots

On our forum we have some threads which require registration to see the posts. We have done this to offer some security on what be construed as sensitive data.
I've noticed recently a lot more activity from Google and Yahoo bots which are 'logged in'. On a website, the webmaster can introduce 'robots.txt' to exclude the spiders, but how do we do this on our Forum, or is all data regarded as public?

This is not the support section.

Please post your question in the correct SUPPORT section according to your forum software

phpBB2 Support
phpBB3 Support
IPB Support

and use the same prefix number as the number in your url and make sure you include your forum URL in the request.

Please check the section if your problem/question has already been reported/asked before you make a new thread and if you do make a new thread, please describe your problem "why my forum doesn't work?" doesn't give us much to go on...

It would be also useful to look around the forum and do a search before you ask in case it has been answered before.

USEFUL TIP: If your support request gets resolved, click on THREAD TOOLS > MARK THIS THREAD AS SOLVED. This will mark the thread RESOLVED and will close the thread. (please use this tip!)
Please DO NOT! PM/e-mail me for support unless I ask you to.
Do a search and if you don't find your answer create a thread with your question and I will be happy to help. I can not be replying the same answer over and over in an e-mail/PM. Thanks.
