Default Problems Assigning a Domain to a forumer acct.

Hi there. I have done a search and posted little questions here and there and I still haven't found the answer to what should be easy to answer for those of you who've been around a while. To make my question easy to understand, I have created screen shots and I am providing all the relevant information about my forum and domain name:

My forumer.com forum: highdesertforum.12.forumer.com

My recently purchased domain from godaddy.com: highdeserthub.com

I have set "highdeserthub.com" with godaddy to forward "mask" to the forumer url and that works fine. The Admin panel area of "Domain setup" on forumer does not accept the domain name I just purchased. See pics below.

Here you can see I typed the domain I own into the box as asked.

Here you can see my new domain, as forwarded by godaddy.com. worked to bring the user to my forumer site, but the forumer site does not adjust the users cookies when topics are read. I am wondering if this is because the domain name has not been officially changed in Forumer.com

Above is the error message I get when I try to update to the new domain.

Did I throw my money away buying from godaddy? This hardly seems fair on forumer's part if they dis-allow domains bought elsewhere.

I'm a little frusdtated, if anyone can help me out, I would sure appreciate it. All my users are seeing red now and they cant mark all topics as read anymore if they are there through a forwarded address.

Damien

Don't worry.. It takes up to 24 hours, even more sometimes.

And read what it says, you should use domainexplorer.com because it allows redirection.

Anyway, I had the same problem changing nameservers, it took about 48 hours.

Give it some more time, if it still doesn't work.. post again

However, if you think you've waited more than 24 hours or so, try registering the domain in domainexplorer.com

That's the same problem I've been having. It's been well over 24 hours and I don't have the option of transferring my registered domain to domainexplorer. Oh, well. I hope it works for you, jeeptravel.

As I imagined, it's been close to 36 hours and I still get the same error when I try to assign the domain to my forumer bb.

It's no problem because like PIKA in a nother thread, I found a "workaround."

From Godaddy where I purchased the domain for $8.95/yr, I selected the option of forwarding hits to my new domain, to be sent directly to my forumer bb address. I had a real problem at first when I used "masking."

THis left the new domain in the address window the entire time people coming in that way were maueuvering through the foumer site. It worked fine except . . .

The cookies weren't being changed. In other words, everything that was "unread" showed up as unread, even after it was read!! NOT GOOD!!!

I silved the problem by removing masking through Goddaddy's CP.

Now when users are redirected/forwarded to the forumer site, the longer forumer addy appears in the address bar. That's no big deal, at least they always get there when they type in the domain.

SO!!!! People having this issue, simply set your domain through your services CP to be auto forwarded to your forumer addy. AND . . . make sure you do NOT select "Mask" as a forward option.

Hope that helps, it was amazing how there was so little help on this issue when I first came here. I hope people will use this thread to coninue to iron out this realy frustrating and serious issue with forumer domain assignments.

peace
