This may be a real dumb question, but you'll have to forgive me, I am new to all this.

1. Why would someone need someone else to buy them a domain name?

2. What payoff is it for you, to buy another person a domain name, just so that they will make posts on your forum. I am obviously missing something. What's the payoff?

the payoff is making posts on your forum. And some people are rich y'know.

I guess what I don't understand is why people would want to pay others essentially to make posts. Does the forum owner get some kind of payoff for having a ton of posts?

That's why they ask other Forumer members to buy domains.
