yes they are.....
I guess it depends on how you define "needed". I have nothing against them though. I wonder what kind of outcry this will cause in china. It would have been fascinating if they introduced the one child policy in the same way, you have to choose one child and kill the others. Maybe then the government could be overthrown and reinstated in a more liberal way.

Statistics does show that china, in both health and wealth, gained a lot from the one child policy; though the statistics does not take the individuals emotions into consideration.
